John Galliano has always had a knack for turning fashion on its head. With the "Artisinal" line for Maison Martin Margiela, the new name for Haute Couture, he developed new fabrics that react to light, and create a whole different look with just a flash of light. Galliano played to his Margiela strengths with staples like trenchcoats and transparent vinyl, yet gave the audience a taste of the Dior days with chinoiserie prints. Through this collection, so many questions have bubbled to the surface. Is Couture dead? Is fashion art? Who is the new Couture customer? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
